This is a subject close to my heart
on account of what happened to me as a child. I was born in
Germany and was raised in Berlin. When I was five years old,
I had my first spiritual experience, though I didn't realise
the importance of it at the time. I remember my mother putting
me to bed and just as I was about to drop off to sleep, I
heard a voice repeatedly calling my name. It was as clear
as a bell. I opened my eyes and to my amazement saw the image
of a lady floating above my bed. Thinking back on it now,
there was a familiarity about her, she looked a little bit
like my mother. This lady waved to me and beckoned me to follow
her. I closed my eyes for an instance, feeling rather drowsy.
There was a pleasant tingling sensation in my head and the
feeling of a slight electric shock.
All of a sudden I found myself on the
roof of my house, four floors up, with the lady right beside
me. Yet I wasn't in the least bit surprised. I knew it was
nighttime and yet it looked rather brighter, like a sunset
but without the sun. Everything sparkled with a vibrancy that
has to be seen to be believed. I remember that everything
shimmered, as if it had a life of it's own. There was an electric
blue permeating everything, and a wonderful feeling of belonging.
It seemed that I found myself in some kind of super-reality.
There was absolutely no noise whatsoever. Standing on the
roof of my house , I was looking down at the street below.
There were a few cars darting about, and I floated very slowly
towards the pedestrian way and the few cars which were parked
there.
I was aware of the lady guiding me gently
towards street level. She told me that in reality there were
two of me. One sleeping in my bed, and the other one with
her in the astral. I was only five years old, yet I understood
it all and I couldn't explain why. Just to drive the point
home, she later showed me my sleeping body and I understood
the truth of it. In a strange way, while I was visiting the
astral fields, I seemed to possess an intellect far greater
than any five year old had any right to have. This happened
to me very regularly, despite my tender years. I thought at
the time, that everyone was able to do what I did, so I didn't
think it was unusual in any way. I didn't even tell my mother
about my nightly travels, nor about the lady. Looking back
on it, I now know that everything in life happens for a reason.
I understand that I was primed for something I was to do at
a much later time. My nightly sojourns ended as sudden as
they started the moment I reached puberty, and would not return
until my mid-twenties. Astral flights, as I call them, are
nothing new or unusual. Almost everyone does it every night,
whether they remember it or not. The ability to go "home"
at night is the birthright of every human being, but sadly
due to a rough separation between the Spirit and the physical
vehicle, many people rarely remember what they have done or
seen during their trips. If presented with the facts, they'd
rather explain away their experiences, preferring to resort
to more prosaic interpretations.
If you are interested to do this
properly, there are many avenues open to you. Many books are
available on the subject. Watkins Books in London's Cecil
court stock a great many of them for example. There even exists
an Institute in the USA, dedicated to the study of OBE's and
the various dimensions and foci. If you want to know more,

Institute and browse to your hearts content. As the Buddhists
say, every journey starts with a single step.
